Anita Ponder, partner in the Government and Regulatory Affairs group at Drinker Biddle & Reath, LLP (DBR), is one of the most visible lawyers in Chicago. As head of the law firm’s Government Contracts Team, Anita represents major corporations, mid-sized companies and small businesses in almost every major industry. “I’m facilitating positive changes that significantly impact the lives of others,” she says. “I help my clients compete for government contracts. When they’re successful, they hire small businesses and often additional employees, including females and minorities. My work stimulates economic development in diverse communities throughout Illinois.”

Anita also devotes time outside DBR as co-chair of Mayor Daley’s Women’s Peace Task Force, which helps develop safe neighborhoods by promoting peace and eliminating violence in the city. She’s also a board member on the Illinois State Treasurer’s Women’s Affairs and Minority Councils and has received numerous honors and awards.
